Pacific Coast Teak carries the following grades:
Teak Lumber Grades:
FEQ (First European Quality) Premium Grade 1 Teak
- Length: 6 ft. – 10 ft.
- Width: 6 inches – 10 inches
- No piths or cracks. Some sound knots allowable.
- 95% heartwood with stable color.
Rustic Grade Select
- Length: 6 ft. – 10 ft.
- Width: 6 inches – 10 inches
- No piths or cracks. 4 to 6 sound knots allowable per side.
- 95% heartwood on one side. 75% heartwood on the other side.
*All of our lumber is kiln dried to 6-8% humidity.

The Quarter System
The quarter system refers to the rough thickness of a board in ¼” increments. Rough thickness refers to the thickness of a board before it was surfaced, or planed. For example, a 4/4 board was 1” thick before it was surfaced.
Additionally, planed thickness varies depending on the type of surfacing used in the milling process. There are two standard types of surfacing:
